When you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular provider. On their end, three records are set up automatically the moment the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain address where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the e-mails for that specific domain address. The site and the e-mail hosting are typically thought to be one thing, when they're in fact two different services. Having independent records for them will permit you to have them with different providers if you wish. As an illustration, some new provider can have superb uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your emails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain name to the first and MX records to have the emails with the second, you will get the best of both providers. These records are checked whenever you want to open a website or send an e-mail - either way, the service provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed site or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a cloud hosting account from our company and you wish to direct either your site or your e-mails to a different company, it'll take you literally simply two clicks to do it. Our Hepsia Control Panel offers an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domains and subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically and you are going to be able to see and change the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you decide to use a different e-mail provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default two, it is not going to take more than a few clicks either to add them. You could also set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the greater the priority a certain MX record will have. The propagation of each record that you change or create won't take more than a few hours and if needed, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, which indicates how long a record will stay active after it is changed or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, provided with our semi-dedicated servers, will permit you to see the A and MX records for every one of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if necessary, to update any of them or set up new ones. Handling these records is very easy because all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes only a few more clicks and if you experience any issues, you can check out our video tutorials on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to give you complete control over all records and to enable you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you are switching your e-mails to a different company and they ask you to create more than 2 different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
